Grilled Beef and Ham Sandwich with Melted Cheese

Ingredients:
For the Sandwiches:
8 slices of thick bread (sourdough or a hearty white bread works well)
2 tbsp butter (for toasting the bread)
1/2 lb (225g) ground beef, seasoned with salt, pepper, and garlic powder
1/2 lb (225g) cooked ham, sliced thin
2 cups shredded yellow cheddar cheese (or a mix of your favorite melty cheeses)
Instructions:
Prepare the Beef:
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
Drain any excess fat and set the beef aside.
Toast the Bread:
Preheat a griddle or large skillet over medium heat. Butter one side of each bread slice generously.
Place the buttered side of the bread down onto the skillet and toast for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Flip and toast the other side.
Remove the toasted bread from the skillet and set it aside.
Assemble the Sandwiches:
On the unbuttered side of one slice of bread, layer a generous portion of cooked ground beef.
Top with a few slices of ham and a generous handful of shredded cheddar cheese.
Place another slice of toasted bread on top, buttered side facing out.
Grill the Sandwiches:
Place the assembled sandwiches back onto the skillet. Grill over medium heat, pressing down slightly with a spatula.
Grill for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has melted completely.
Serve:
Once both sides of the sandwich are toasted to a crispy golden brown and the cheese is oozing out, remove from the skillet and slice the sandwiches diagonally for a clean, mouthwatering presentation.
Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce or side dish.
Tips for Perfection:
Meat: You can substitute the ground beef with turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
Bread: Choose a bread that can hold up to the filling, like a thick-sliced sourdough or country loaf, for the best texture.
Cheese: For extra flavor, mix in some pepper jack or provolone with the cheddar for a slightly spicy or sharper flavor profile.
Extra Veggies: If you like, add some sautΓ©ed onions or mushrooms inside for an extra savory layer of flavor.
This Grilled Beef and Ham Sandwich with melted cheese is rich, hearty, and perfect for a cozy meal. The contrast between the crispy, golden bread and gooey, flavorful filling makes it irresistible. Enjoy!
