Caramelized Onion Beef Sandwich

Ingredients
Beef Patty
• Ground beef – 1 lb / 450 g
• Salt – 1 tsp / 6 g
• Black pepper – 1 tsp / 3 g
• Garlic powder – 1 tsp / 3 g
• Paprika – 1 tsp / 3 g
• Worcestershire sauce – 1 tbsp / 15 ml (optional)
Caramelized Onions
• Onions, thinly sliced – 2 cups / 250 g
• Butter – 1 tbsp / 14 g
• Olive oil – 1 tbsp / 15 ml
• Brown sugar – 1 tsp / 4 g
• Salt – a pinch
For Assembly
• Baguette or hoagie roll – 1 large
• Cheese slices – 2 slices (cheddar, provolone, or Swiss)
• Lettuce leaves – 2–3 pieces
• Tomato slices – 4–5 slices
• Mayonnaise or burger sauce – 2 tbsp / 30 g
Instructions
Prepare the Caramelized Onions
• Heat butter and oil in a pan.
• Add sliced onions and cook on low heat until soft.
• Sprinkle in the sugar and salt.
• Stir occasionally until golden and caramelized, then set aside.
Prepare the Beef Patty
• Mix ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and Worcestershire sauce.
• Shape into a long patty to fit the bread.
• Cook in a hot pan until browned on both sides and cooked through.
• Place cheese slices on top to melt.
Prepare the Bread
• Slice the baguette open.
• Lightly toast the inside in a pan or oven for crispness.
• Spread mayonnaise or burger sauce on the base.
Assemble the Sandwich
• Place lettuce on the bottom of the bread.
• Add tomato slices on top.
• Place the hot cheesy beef patty over the tomatoes.
• Spoon caramelized onions over the beef.
