Gourmet Meat and Cheese Rolls 🥐🤩
⏱ Total time: 30 minutes
👥 Serves 4
🍒 Ingredients: 🍀 8 sheets of brick pastry (or filo pastry)🍀 300g ground meat (beef or lamb)🍀 100g melted cheese (mozzarella, Emmental, cheddar, etc.)🍀 1 medium onion (about 80g)🍀 1 garlic clove (optional)🍀 1 tablespoon olive oil🍀 1 teaspoon paprika (sweet or smoked)🍀 1 teaspoon fresh herbs (parsley, coriander, etc.)🍀 Salt and pepper🍀 1 egg yolk (for browning, if baking)🍀 A little of oil (for frying or brushing the leaves)
🍳 Step-by-step preparation:
1️⃣ In a hot pan, pour the olive oil. Add the finely chopped onion and, if desired, the chopped garlic. Let them cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
2 Stir in the ground meat. Season with paprika, a little salt, pepper, and fresh herbs. Let it cook until the meat is browned.
3️⃣ Off the heat, add the cheese, cut into small pieces or grated. Mix until the filling is evenly distributed.
4️⃣ Take a sheet of brick pastry and place a spoonful of filling on it. Fold in the edges and roll to form a small roll. Repeat with all the sheets. 5️⃣ Choose your cooking method:
🍀 Deep-frying: Heat a little oil in a pan and let each roll brown for 2 to 3 minutes on each side.
🍀 Oven: Lightly brush each roll with a little oil or beaten egg yolk, then bake at 180°C (gas mark 6) for 10 to 12 minutes, until golden brown.
💡 Practical tips:
🍀 Taste the filling before shaping the rolls to adjust the seasoning.🍀 If you like a little heat, add a pinch of sweet chili or Espelette pepper.
📦 Storage:
🍀 Store your meat and cheese rolls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 days. 🍀 Reheat them in the oven at 150°C for a few minutes to keep them crispy.
